Binge Drinking

Drinking lots of alcohol within a short period of time with the intention of getting drunk is often referred to as binge drinking. If you drink to excess you are likely to experience a number of physical effects, including:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Hangover
  • Shakiness
  • Memory loss
  • Passing out

For some people, these are just part of the price one pays for drinking. However, excessive drinking can also result in:

  • Injury to yourself (from being reckless or from being assaulted)
  • Alcohol poisoning
  • Risk of sexual assault
  • Health problems

Symptoms of Alcohol Poisoning

The symptoms listed below can indicate possible alcohol poisoning.

  • Great confusion
  • Vomiting
  • Seizures
  • Blue tinge to skin
  • Repeated passing out
  • Decrease in body temperature

If you suspect someone has an alcohol overdose (poisoning) get medical help as soon as possible (Call 911) and do not leave the person alone. 

Alcohol use can interfere with where you want to be and where you want to go in life. If you drink, enjoy alcohol - don't let it take control of you.
